Animations
Old school stick animations:
Fight Banner:
A banner originally created for Dark Ice web, I don’t even really know why I still have this.
Blacksmith:
Half of you are probably looking at this page for the sole purpose of looking at this movie. Truly this is my “defining” movie that most people know/remember me by… and in actuallity for the time being I don’t much mind. This is a few minutes of pure frame by frame, redrawn, insanity that I am happy to say I created. Though, like everything else it may be incomplete, it’s still worth looking at, and in my opinion still worth working on.
Operation X: Boss:
Back in the day a man who goes by the name of “Crazy Jay” began a large-scale collaboration. Unfortunately it was rather unorganized and not too many people actually followed through. Once I said I’d join up (since this was shortly after blacksmith) Jay insisted that I do the final battle. I gladly took up this place and started working on my first “cinimatic styled” stick movie ever. One very notable thing about this animation is the one slow motion punch. It was completely frame by frame animation (instead of the tweening alternative). Sure, it looks nice, but it was seriously a pain in the ass to do.
A Year’s Progress:
Ok, so maybe I was wrong when I said Blacksmith is my defining movie. This one here might very well be it. Simply put it is a massive compilation of all the work I had done over the year prior to it. I would make “A year’s progress 2″ but I assure you, it would be very dissapointing. All I would have is a slideshow of fancy art.
Battle of the Titans MX:
This movie is one old bird, that’s for sure. Even so, I can’t help but feel it is a special movie, and for a whole multitude of reasons at that. For one, this was my very first animation I ever created on Macromedia Flash MX. Secondly, the music syncing believe it or not, came AFTER the animation. Somehow the theme from Pirates fit that well by mere coincidence. I remember the first time I played it once I accidentally synced it up perfectly, Paul laughed at how rediculously well it fit. To this day I can’t believe it played out so well. Also, believe it or not, at the end of this, if you watch the scene I never quite got around to actually finishing, youll notice that it looks a little familiar. It should, because it is what inspired me to start working on Blacksmith immediately after I gave up on this. I was under the belief that in the works of this project I had excelled past the skill I started out with 10-fold, and I was right.
T.S.S. Episode 1 (Stick):
This movie had to have raised a whole lot of questions about T.S.S. In fact, it had to raise a whole lot of questions in general. Although it is possibly my highest quality stick movie ever, I was dissatisfied with it overally, which is why I stopped. In all honesty, this whole thing was just intended to be an introduction to the actual episode. It would have run probably around 7 to 13 minutes had I kept on working at it. It was towards the end of this though that I decided that T.S.S. just wouldn’t feel right as a stick series, so I started vigorously working on my art work in hopes to improve enough that I can make it a reality with full figure. I suppose that is all I’ll say about it for now…
Fight Test:
This here is an interesting little snippet of fighting. Originally I created it for no reason at all other than to test whether or not I could still animate a well choreographed brawl. Little did I know that it would go on to win a small “battle” on Stickpage, and take the Stickslaughter ranked one slot for some time. I’m not sure what made this little test so likeable, but it sure is fun to watch anyway.
Kitchen Fight Reloaded:
I had very high hopes for this movie, it was intended to be my grand finale as I left the stick world. Unfortunately as usual I didn’t finish the damn thing, and due to that it never came to be what I originally invisioned. Had I followed through, this easily would be one of the most dynamic, creative, and unusual stick battles to date. I don’t think I regret not finishing any movie more than this one. I still try to force myself to go back and do it, even if I swore I would move on. Perhaps someday… Also, this was a remake for a little battle that I lost a long while back (ask Zach about it, it’s a funny story). The original kitchen fight animation can be seen in A Year’s Progress.
Resurrection:
Through and through, I love this movie. It isn’t my best work, no doubt about that, but it certainly is the funniest and possibly the most unique. I won the little contest I entered this into rather easily. I guess everyone likes seeing limbs… well you’ll see.
Thunder Sample Scene:
As I’m sure all of you know, at least half of my movies relates back to T.S.S. This one is probably the clearest as it is something that will happen at some point of the series (I won’t say when because I’m not a ruiner). I’m not sure why, or even how, but everyone I seem to know remembers/loves this short clip. I have to agree with them. This is something that ran through my mind day in and day out as I walked to and from school. What can I say, Thunder is just an awesomely cool character, and the mere thought of him protecting Sirius (main character) in such a crazy faction brings joy to my heart. I know what happens the rest of this scene, as in the stuff that it doesn’t show, and I assure you it’s far cooler than the stuff you can see now. Oh yeah, when T.S.S. comes this will be an episode to remember.
T.S.S. Shorts 1-2:
Yet another T.S.S. concept coming to life… and this one is easily the highest quality example. In the first one corrupted Phoenix takes on a highly ranked military officer, and utterly owns him. After that he struggles to break Myrons chaotic hold, and attempts to kill his master. Once again though, the second part was incomplete, and I suppose for now that might be good, actual T.S.S. will be leaps and bounds better.
